F.R.E.D. (Full-scale Rescue Extrication Dummy) can be filled or empty, depending on the training scenario:
- Empty – The dummy is typically lightweight and easy to move, allowing for quick practice of techniques like carrying or dragging the dummy during rescues. It may be used to simulate a non-injured person or a general practice scenario.
- Filled – For more realistic training, the dummy can be filled with weight (such as sand or sawdust) to simulate a real person’s body mass and add resistance, making the extrication or rescue feel more authentic.
Material: Heavy-duty rip-stop PVC for durability. This ensures that it can withstand rough handling and potential abrasions.
Stitching: Heavy-duty stitching for reinforcing seams, especially in high-stress areas where the load will be concentrated.
UV Resistance: A high UV resistance rating will ensure it can be used outdoors without degrading from sun exposure.
Water Resistance: Relatively water-resistant, allowing for use in wet conditions without significant deterioration.
