Universal Head Immobilizer

The head immobilizer is a medical device used to stabilize and prevent movement of a patient’s head and neck, typically in emergency or trauma situations. It is most commonly used in cases of suspected spinal injuries to avoid further harm while the patient is being transported. The device typically consists of a rigid frame or straps that secure the head in place, minimizing the risk of spinal cord damage.

Head immobilizers are often used in conjunction with a backboard to ensure proper alignment and safety during transport to a healthcare facility.

Description:

  • Two Round Ear Holes: The head immobilizer is equipped with two strategically placed round ear holes on either side, allowing for easy observation of bleeding or drainage during emergency procedures.
  • Rigid Construction: Designed with a rigid structure to maintain effective CPR and cardiac compression during patient transfer. The head immobilizer also has a significant drainage capacity, with an overall volume of 0.04 m³. This feature allows it to float an adult in room-temperature water, reducing the challenges faced by water lifeguards and facilitating quicker resuscitation.
  • NBR Cotton Foam: Constructed from eco-friendly, non-toxic NBR cotton foam, this head immobilizer complies with the international 6P standard. It is waterproof, easy to clean, and resistant to infection. The foam is cut from a single sheet of non-composite closed-cell material, preventing any glue openings due to water immersion, ensuring both environmental safety and comfort.
  • Non-Toxic, Non-Harmful Paint: Coated with a non-toxic, water-based paint, the head immobilizer is safe for use in various medical settings. The paint is environmentally friendly and does not pose any health hazards. It also allows for excellent X-ray, MRI, and CT penetration, minimizing discomfort for patients during diagnostic procedures.
  • Sturdy and Durable Design: Engineered for strength and longevity, this head immobilizer is resistant to aging and wear. It features uniformly placed open carry handles around the perimeter, allowing multiple people to assist in lifting and carrying the patient simultaneously. Its ergonomic design ensures adequate head fixation for the injured, providing maximum stability during transport.

A minimum of 5 sets of this PPE are required, for 1 SIC and 4 ERT members.
