Course OverviewRespond to Fire and Hazmat Emergency is designed to enable a person to function as a member of an emergency response team in order to meet and respond to fire and Hazmat emergencies.
Who Should AttendCERT members in Public and Industrial buildings with valid petroleum and flammable materials storage license (> 5 matrix tonnes).
  • Have received safety training related to a process plant.
  • Have received training in wearing breathing apparatus(BA), search and rescue, casualty handling and fire command and control systems./li>
  • Have related training or work experience in a process plant./li>
  • Be able to listen, read, speak and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS) level 6./li>
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 6
Course OutlineThe competency unit would be appropriate for those with operational responsibilities.

  • Prepare for Fire and Hazmat emergencies
  • Participate to contain fire emergencies
  • Participate to contain Hazmat emergencies
  • Assist in search and rescue operations
